Herringbone is a popular ocean-to-table restaurant concept. Tropical Hawaii will become the latest destination for a trendy Herringbone restaurant.

Hakkasan Group is a respected, global hospitality company. This international brand has opened establishments in United States, Europe, Asia, plus the Middle East. The very first Herringbone restaurant opened in La Jolla, California near San Diego. There is much anticipation as the Herringbone Waikiki nears it grand opening.

The new Herringbone restaurant in Hawaii is scheduled to open later this spring. It is being designed by Ocio Design Group. They are utilizing elements from both the La Jolla and Santa Barbara restaurants. What is exciting is the inclusion of a fresh, indoor-outdoor design that will represent the tropical feel of Hawaii.

The restaurant’s ocean-to-table concept is being created by Chef Brian Malarkey. The result is spectacular. The interior design creates a coastal restaurant vibe. The building was a brick warehouse but cleverly utilizes its bow truss ceiling. Hanging down are a series of upside down boats and canoes. But not just for show, they have been morphed into light fixtures. The fixtures use vintage Edison bulbs and are surrounded by olive trees that are imported.

The goal of this new ocean-to-table concept restaurant is to source line-caught fish, in addition to the freshest products. Coming from the ocean, ranch and field, all menu ingredients will be obtained within only 350 yards from the Pacific Ocean. Now that’s fresh!

The Herringbone Waikiki restaurant will provide wonderful views. It can be found on the open-air, third-level of the Grand Lanai of International Market Place in Waikiki on the island of Oahu. Enjoy the incredible hanging gardens that will surround the expansive, 2,000-square-foot lanai. The wood and flora “walls” are made from weathered wooden boxes. Tom Long is the general manager of The Westin Buffalo for Delaware North.He was quoted, “Our guests have really gotten a kick out of the Relay robot and how it’s programmed to ride the elevator to their room and call them to receive the items from its storage compartment. It’s been successful thanks to Savioke working with Delaware North’s information technology department and our front desk staff.”

The Relay robot butler is the first fully-autonomous delivery robot that works along with people in busy environments. For example hotels, logistics, office buildings, and even high-rise apartments.

Able to operate elevators, Relay is already deployed in dozens of properties where people live, work, and play. Utilizing advanced technology, the robot can navigate in dynamic environments. It glides all around people and even stationary or moving objects. It’s safe and efficient. It’s like old Jetsons cartoon has come to life in the 21st century. Visiting The Sacred Valley of Peru is an awesome travel experience. This trip was an incredible combination of Andean and Incan culture, eco-adventure, wellness, spirituality, and most importantly, service. We had the opportunity to work with three extraordinary organizations, Project Helping, Ninos del Sol, and Hanuman Adventures, to create this transformational and unifying journey that we will never forget!

The Sacred Valley is an epicenter of spiritual history and adventure. We were blessed to access unique, locally rooted, ceremonies performed by Peruvian Shamen from the highlands of the Andes and a number of potent local healers. One of our favorites was a hike up to the Chicon glacier where we had private access to a 14,000 foot mountain and participated in a traditional purification ceremony, honoring Mother Earth or Pachamama as she is referred to in Quechua.

The adventure to Machu Picchu seems to always be a favorite. From glass ceiling train rides through the dramatic Peruvian landscape to a 4 am hike up to the gates of Machu Picchu- the experience is a rich and powerful opportunity to connect with a truly, inspirational story, people and land.

At the center of our journey in Peru was service work with Ninos Del Sol, an orphanage that provides a truly loving and nurturing home for 15 beautiful children. This orphanage is special in its approach. Instead of seeking adoption for the children, the directors Avishai and Viviana, provide a healthy home and family where the children can support one another as they grow into adulthood.

We were lucky enough to be there at a time when our help was especially needed during a relocation from one home to a new one. We were blessed with the experience of working directly with the kids and their community to pack up the old house and get the new house ready for move in. While the work was hard, the extra help we provided was crucial. It was empowering, humbling and heart opening to be able to be of service in such a meaningful way.

In the end, what was most impactful, was the evolution of our incredible groups of brave strangers who took this magical journey together. The experience of traveling to a foreign country with people you don’t know, to do work and activities that will inevitably push you outside of your comfort zone, takes courage. It was a leap of faith that led us to open our hearts and minds and connect with each other, our amazing hosts, and the world around us.
